BOTOX® Cosmetics

Hylaform Gel
The way your skin looks is directly related to the way you skin is supported. As we age, the natural support layers in the skin break down resulting in the formation of wrinkles. Hylaform gel, a clear gel containing a purified form of hyluronic acid, adds volume lost during the aging process by temporarily smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. Hylaform gel is injected just under the skin's surface in order to temporarily correct wrinkles. The treatment results are immediate. Over time, the gel will gradually break down and be naturally absorbed by your body. After the initial treatment, an additional treatment of Hylaform gel may be necessary to achieve the desired level of correction. The need for additional treatment may vary from patient to patient. Your physician will work with you to develop a treatment program to meet your individual needs.
Hyluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar. It is found in the human body in the skin, cartilage, joints, and the eye. In the skin tissue, hyluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers. The role of hyaluronic acid in skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent. In fact, hyluronic acid is so good at hydration, it actually can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water.
Acne Treatments
Acne is the term for the blocked pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that can appear typically on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. Seventeen million Americans currently have acne, making it the most common skin disease in the country. While it affects mostly teenagers, adults of any age can have it. Acne is not life-threatening, but it can cause physical disfigurement (scarring) and emotional distress. Treatment varies depending on the type and severity of lesions, skin type and the patient’s age and lifestyle, but on average results are visible in six to eight weeks. Options include: laser resurfacing, soft tissue fillers and fat transfer, punch excisional surgery for deep "ice-pick" pitted scarring, and dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. Patients with mild acne can supplement treatment at home by washing with warm water and a mild soap twice a day and/or using a topical over-the-counter acne medication.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion improves mild to moderate sun damage, scarring, wrinkles and other superficial skin problems. A gentle stream of tiny particles exfoliates the outer layer of skin and provides a fresh, glowing, younger appearance. The particles scrape away the surface layer of aging or damaged skin, which is then brushed off with the microdermabrasion vacuum tool with no need for anesthesia. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated. Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels. Multiple treatments are recommended for full effect.

What is the MicroLaserPeel?

Who should consider a MicroLaserPeel?

How is the MicroLaserPeel different from Microdermabrasion?
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer (stratum corneum, 10-15 microns) of the skin. Patients may become dissatisfied when the perceived results do not equal expense and the number of procedures required. The MicroLaserPeel is a minimal to full epidermal peel (20-50 microns). Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and deeper peels.
