Brow Lift

Also known as a forehead lift, this procedure aims to correct sagging brows and “worry lines” that run across the forehead. Since these features relay a constantly tired or agitated look, correcting them helps patients relay their emotions better and makes them appear more relaxed.

Symptoms/IndicationsBROWLIFTINSERT

  • Eyebrows that sag or are set at a low position.
  • Deep horizontal creases across the forehead
  • Frown lines that run between the eyebrows and sometimes across the top of the nose.

Treatment Description

Compared to a full face lift, the brow lift performed at our Florida practice focuses solely on the eyebrows and forehead to create a more relaxed and youthful look. The most current technique utilizes an endoscope and special instruments. These need only small incisions to use, making it possible to speed up recovery time and limit scarring. Depending on the work that needs to be done, other forehead lift techniques may also be considered.

How the Procedure Works

Through incisions made within the hairline, surgeons reposition, alter, or remove the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to correct the source of deep creases and furrows in the forehead and between the eyebrows. These same incisions also correct low-positioned or sagging brows that are hereditary or caused by aging.

If the patient desires to correct specific regions of the brow, a coronal brow lift can be performed. Compared to other techniques, this involves an incision from ear to ear which lifts the forehead and removes excess skin from the scalp. Due to the size of the incision, the recovery time for this technique is longer compared to those performed with an endoscope.

What happens after the surgery?

After the procedure is done, a bandage may be wrapped around your forehead or face and you will be taken to a recovery area. While only a few report of discomfort after the surgery, if any is experienced, it can easily be controlled with pain medication.

Recovery time can vary between individuals. It can also vary depending on the techniques used in the surgery. So while some can go home after a few hours, others may need to stay overnight in the surgical facility.

Aside from this, there will be a few things patients should avoid in the first few days after the procedure. Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications are some of them. Smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke should also be avoided as they will cause delays in the healing process.
